Essential Games of the Texas Rangers

A Great Set
I'll be the first to admit the Rangers do not have the deepest history in sports. Take a look and you will see that two of the greatest games in their history here are AL pennant wins (no World Series wins yet) and both within two years. Still, such as it is, I think the selections here are appropriate. There are other notable moments, but these were the four biggest.

As a fan, it's nice to have these archived - which also means I can finally erase the 2010 ALCS game 6 off my Tivo after two full years. The only complaint I have is the source on the Nolan Ryan 7th no hitter. Granted, that was 20 years ago and thus sources may be scarce, but I was surprised to get the Toronto television feed. Surely someone at Fox Sports has the tape from when it originally aired - I believe on HSE prior to Fox taking them over. I also know there are at least portions of the audio feed by the late great Mark Holtz which would have been a nice inclusion as an overdub perhaps.

This was originally supposed to be a 5 or 6 disc set
This box set was being planned as a 5 or 6 disc box set with the inclusion of Games 6 and 7 of the 2011 World Series to be included. As these DVDs were being prepared, a funny thing happened. The Cardinals, down to their last strike TWICE, rallied twice to win the Greatest World Series Game of All Time, Game 6, with David Freese's clutch triple and game winning home run making history. Then, the Cardinals sealed the deal by winning Game 7 and winning their 11th World Series title. They quickly had to reformulate this DVD box set and withdraw Games 6 and 7. For those essential games, see "The 2011 World Series" box set, made in Cardinal red and white. So Rangers fans, enjoy your box set of "essential games" while Cardinals fans polish their 2011 World Series rings!

add---I hear they are working on a Greatest Games of the Houston Texans DVD set for football which will be 20 minutes long......
